Sliding or hinged door wardrobe, which one to choose?
When furnishing a bedroom, there’s a recurrent question: is it better to buy a wardrobe with a sliding door or hinged door?
Let’s start by saying that there is no correct answer, as you need to know precisely the characteristics of the room.
However, there are some factors that influence the choice; here are some.
Cost
With the same technical specifications, the hinged system has a lower price than the sliding one.
Design flexibility
In terms of design, the cabinet with a hinged door is the better choice, as it also adapts well to corner spaces or rooms with varying heights.
But be careful about opening: since it opens outwards, the door needs enough space to ensure freedom of movement inside the bedroom.
Aesthetics
Merging various materials is not a problem with a sliding door wardrobe, as well as experimenting with screen printing and engravings.
Thanks to the large doors and lack of handles, these wardrobes are a piece of furniture with a minimal and essential look, allowing you to experiment with impressive decorative elements.
Dust
Certainly less dust enters a hinged wardrobe, compared to a sliding one.
In addition to having anti-dust seals, the very structure of this kind of wardrobe makes it more successful on this point.
Logically, doors that slide past each other inevitably leave a gap allowing dust to filter through, even though in very small quantities.
